Walks in the Wild.
Lucia Lima - Lemony Grass
From lighthouses, beaches and clifftops to lakes, crags and woods, we spent the spring-time walking, listening, telling stories and writing. Everywhere, nature has been performing to us – in colour and smell and sound – and we’ve been recording these sounds as we go. Together in the studio, we’ve weaved the words and sounds we’ve gathered into a brand new composition: 'Lucia Lima, Lemony Grass’.
We created a woodland listening party and world music disco in a forest clearing. Guiding audiences around a curated sound walk, then joining the party around the fire for food, drinks and dancing in nature.
This work is created with a collective of people who have newly arrived in the north east seeking sanctuary in the UK and people who have made their home here. The work has been produced by myself, writer and composer Martin Heslop, and West End Refugee Service.
