about.
Artist, Activist, Facilitator and Consultant.
As an artist I make theatre and I work across art forms to create joyful pop-up experiences.
As a facilitator & consultant I offer creative support to individuals, groups and organisations.
I am from North Shields on the north east coast in the UK. I have worked in the theatre industry for 21 years. Much of my theatre work has toured across the UK and I have worked extensively in South Africa.
Whilst completing a Clore Cultural Leadership Fellowship I founded Curious Monkey - a Theatre Company of Sanctuary that specialised in creating socially relevant productions, for which it became a significant company in the north east and across the UK. I was Artistic Director & Joint CEO there for 12 years.
I have now stepped into a new phase of my career as a freelance multidisciplinary artist. My work explores the relationship between performance, interactive/immersive experiences and activism through moments of joy.
I collaborate closely with individuals and
communities who are often under-represented in the arts to develop authentic and resonant new work that strives for social change.
My work is characterized by a deep commitment to building trust over time, allowing space for conversations, letting ideas bubble slowly through phases of development and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome. The work I make aims to bring people together, to challenge perspectives and inequality.
This might be experienced through a performance in or outside a theatre building, at a party, a sound installation, a book, a walk or in a curious caravan.
